Hope for the Future is a relatively young but fast-growing climate change charity. Their vision is to see politicians of all political persuasions joining together with each other and with communities across the UK to take decisive action on climate change.

This small emerging charity is looking for an exceptional and politically astute Director to drive the next stage of their development. Working with the strategic support of a committed, passionate and active Board, the Director will help shape Hope for the Future's strategy for the next 3-5 years and beyond, navigating the opportunities and challenges of growth while ensuring its robust financial position continues. You will be a visionary leader with a positive and relationship based belief in combating climate change. You will have the skills to turn the creative vision of your staff team into practical ideas toward future growth and development, having the capacity to inspire others with your ideas and direction, but also to consult and engage with your staff team to build common ownership.

As Director you will be pivotal in ensuring the smooth running of the charity's key functions including strategy and organisational oversight, operations and human resources, financial management, staff management and the delivery of projects and programmes all while ensuring smooth delivery of the business plan. You will also play a key role in the external representation of the organisation proactively seeking out future opportunities.

This is a truly unique charity, an innovator in its space with talented people who care deeply about what they do. If you have a passion for innovative and creative thinking, substantial experience at a senior level, a supportive and inclusive leadership style and a strong understanding of the political landscape we would love to hear from you.

Hope for the Future have a flexible approach to working. Their head office is in Sheffield (next to Sheffield train station) and the post Covid expectation would be c.3 days in the office. They have small regional offices at present in London and Liverpool.

Closing: November 27th

Interviews: First round interviews held via Zoom on December 7th with next stages held during December

We acknowledge that people from certain backgrounds are under-represented in progressive movements and we are committed to doing what we can to correct this. We are particularly keen to receive applications from Black, Asian and minority ethnic people; people with disabilities, which may include physical or mental health; people who identify as being LGBTQIA+; and people who identify as working-class or have done so in the past. We acknowledge that people from these groups may have encountered barriers to accessing political institutions or the climate movement in the past and so place the emphasis on transferable skills and personal attributes over relevant previous experience for this role
