Are you an excellent fundraiser with experience of developing and managing relationships with businesses and individuals while working to clear income targets?

Salary: £28k to £32k (0.5 FTE)
Contract: Maternity cover for up to one year
Hours: Part-time, flexible - 17.5 hours per week
Location: Based in Swindon / flexible home working

We are recruiting a Development Manager to support a fantastic children's literacy charity in Swindon, which brings together a range of community partners to improve literacy levels in the area. This is a maternity cover role for up to one year.

You will be responsible for developing key relationships with businesses, individuals, trusts, foundations and other sources of funding and promoting business and community engagement in our work.

You will need to be a successful fundraiser with significant and well-rounded fundraising experience. You will also need to be a strong team player, working closely with colleagues and partners in Swindon as well as the central National Literacy Trust team in London.

One person in six has poor literacy skills that impact on every area of their life. A child without good reading, writing and communication skills will struggle to succeed at school, and as an adult they could be locked out of the job market. Poverty doubles the likelihood that, by the age of five, a child's literacy skills will be below average.

As well as a competitive salary, we offer benefits including a generous annual leave allowance totalling 39 days pro rata (including bank holidays and office closure between Christmas and New Year), pensions contributions of 8% of annual salary, a cycle to work scheme, season ticket loans and other health and wellbeing benefits.

Please get in touch with our South West consultant, Amelia Lee, with a copy of your CV for lots more detail:

Deadline is 9am on 5th September with interviews scheduled for 11th September.
