People in media and arts jobs affected by strike-Arts jobs News

Professionals working in media or arts jobs in Scotland may have been affected by a strike.
Staff at Culture Sport Glasgow (CSG) have walked out causing galleries, exhibitions, theatres and sports facilities to close, according to the industry union BECTU.
"Members across the company are determined not to give in to the hardline approach of management," said organiser Paul McManus.
Protests have taken place in the midst of a dispute over wages and working conditions, BECTU claims. Overtime payments, holiday entitlement and salary freezes are among the issues suggested by employers that have been challenged.
Despite the strike coinciding with the general election on May 6th, some sites remained open in order to let people vote.
The cost of the industrial action is expected to run into thousands of pounds as some of the city's main attraction remained closed and are expected to do so again in the near future.
A meeting has been arranged for May 12th when officials will discuss possible outcomes and make arrangements for the rest of the campaign.
