Middlesbrough to receive more housing options-Housing jobs News 12 Aug 2010

Housing options in the north-east of England are set to be improved in the near future with the construction of a £5.4 million development in Middlesbrough.

The project will involve 20 new social apartments being built for older people and those with learning difficulties in the region - and was given the green light after it was confirmed by the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) that it would provide a grant of £1.14 million towards its completion.

The scheme is to take place on Cambridge Road within the town and is a joint project between the HCA, Middlesbrough Council and the Levick Trust, as the homes are to be constructed by people in housing jobs on the site of the old Levick House facility.

Anne Mulroy, head of area for the HCA, remarked that the development "will make a real difference" to the older residents the region.

Meanwhile, a £5.7 million scheme to help elderly people find social housing in nearby Stockton has also been unveiled recently.
