Media jobs news: ITV uncertain for 2010

Brits looking for media jobs with major broadcaster ITV may have to wait and see how the market holds up after the recession and the election.

The company has released first-quarter results which reveal that revenues are up six per cent compared to the same period in 2009, resting at £450 million, while advertising income has also increased.

However, the figures are still down on 2008 levels and ITV said that the outlook is "uncertain", due to the economic climate and the unknown outcome of the hung parliament.

Adam Crozier, chief executive of ITV, added: "Given also the long-term challenges facing the free-to-air market, change remains an imperative at ITV and we are focused on driving the transformation of the business over the next three to five years."

Having moved from his chief executive role at Royal Mail, Mr Crozier was appointed at the head of the company at the end of January and is currently steering the firm through the difficult post-recession period.
