Media jobs may involve more in-app advertising

Media jobs seekers may be required to up their knowledge of in-app mobile advertising, after it was described as a "great opportunity" for brands to effectively target their audience.

This is according to Christian Louca, managing director of marketing provider YOC UK. He said adverts within handset applications can provide excellent potential for developers - and thanks to the Apple iPhone, there is a bigger chance of promotional messages reaching the consumer.

However, it is unlikely to supersede more traditional forms of mobile advertising, which are often a required area of expertise for anyone looking for media jobs.

"It is important to remember that it is only a small part of the global mobile advertising opportunity," Mr Louca added.

Apple launched its iAd platform last month, enabling users to click on promotional messages without leaving the application they are currently using. This is thought to solve the difficult problem of having to navigate back to the app, which can be time-consuming.
