Londons 2012 Olympics may create more arts jobs

More arts jobs may be available during the 2012 Olympics after a conference to promote the opportunities available takes place.

"The event is aimed at carnival artists, collectives and all those interested and involved in the carnival sector from across the country," said Suzi Dent, project co-ordinator at Takepart Arts - one of the organisations exhibiting.

Carnival Network South East (CNSE) will host the day on April 24th at Same Sky in Brighton, which aims to help communities and artisans make the most of the time leading up to the sporting experience.

The Carnival Learning Centre and East Oxford Action Charity will be among the companies in attendance.

Workshops and networking facilities will be available, while topics such as disability and funding will be discussed - Unified Rhythm will also perform their own brand of samba music.

CNSE is part of the Independent Street Arts Network which has organised further events throughout the year, including a series of Lakes Alive performances about different cultures around the world.
