London Paralympics ''chance to challenge perception'' of disabled people-Care jobs News
03 Dec 2009
The London Paralympics could present the UK with the opportunity to challenge the perceptions of disabled people, in news that may interest those working in care jobs.
According to the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, the 2012 games could potentially change the lives of the ten million disabled people living in Britain and as such has developed a Disability Legacy.
This will focus on the three issues of sports participation, improved business services and changing attitudes through inclusion, care jobs workers may be pleased to hear.
Minister for disabled people Jonathan Shaw said this could result in real and lasting change, not only in the sporting arena, but when it comes to jobs and creating positive role models.
Tessa Jowell, minister for the Olympics and Paralympics, commented: "We want to break down barriers to inclusion and participation in areas such as business and sport, helping to accelerate change that will transform disabled people's lives."
December 3rd marked the final 1,000 days before the international event and Talent 2012: Paralympic Potential, run by EIS, UK Sport and the British Paralympic Association, is still searching for athletes to compete at the highest level.
