Increased investment in renewable energy could facilitate more green jobs in the sector, one expert has claimed.Nick Medic, head of communications at Renewable UK, said environmental targets set by the British government have prompted growth in the renewable energy industry in recent years. He added: "What you can now see is offshore wind properly taking off ... even in countries that feel they have optimised their onshore resources, we are going to see a shift to offshore."Renewable energy facilities could also help localise the production of fuel, as the UK is already an "intensive" user of energy, Mr Medic went on to say.His comments come in response to information released by the European Commission which stated that renewable sources provided 19.9 per cent of the continent's electricity in 2009. Of this proportion, wind power contributed 4.2 per cent while hydropower facilitated the largest share with 11.6 per cent.People Unlimited are specialists in recruitment for Green Energy Jobs
