How can media jobs benefit from new Facebook service?-Media recruitment News
10 May 2010
The opportunities being opened up for search engine optimisation (SEO) practices by the new Facebook 'like' button could help those in media jobs, it has been said.
Sam Tilston, the SEO director for London-based marketing firm Idea Taxi, explained that companies and their employees can take advantage of the service by creating groups and fan pages on the popular social networking site.
The expert predicted that the popularity of the feature is set to grow rapidly and sites outside of Facebook will be able to integrate it within their services, which people in media jobs could get a head start on.
Different companies have already implemented similar service onto their site, Mr Tilston added.
"Google has tried to introduce similar features into its search results. When logged into Google you can click on the star next to a listing which will make it a favourite," he said.
However, a recent article on Promotion World said that it may be difficult for search engines like Google to rank Facebook pages based on the new system.
