Housing jobs may be affected by new insulation campaign-Housing recruitment News
29 Mar 2010
Some 65,000 housing jobs created by the government's Greener Homes, Warmer Homes scheme could be added to with the commencement of a new insulation campaign today, Monday March 29th.
As part of a venture to encourage employees to insulate their homes and save money on energy bills, six UK companies have launched the Insulate Today initiative.
Accenture, Aviva, HSBC, Act on CO2, Sainsbury's and the Energy Saving Trust EDF energy have joined forces to help their employees lead a more sustainable and energy efficient life.
Using internal communication channels and accessing 250,000 employees the government hope the scheme will help them to insulate all loft and cavity walls in the UK by 2015. An ambitious target but one they believe the Insulate Today scheme will help them achieve.
Minister for energy and climate change Joan Ruddock said: "The Insulate Today initiative will make a real contribution towards the [2015] target."
In other news, there is still time to respond to the government's Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme proposals to provide financial support for those who install renewable heating.
