Health jobs helping families get fit

Health jobs focused on the government's Change4Life scheme have helped make families healthier.

The government's healthy living campaign is directed at helping people make the right choices in their diet to prevent increasing numbers becoming overweight or obese.

According to the Department of Health, one million mothers have attempted to change their children's behaviour as a direct result of the campaign, while data suggests that the prevalence of obesity in children is levelling out.

Some health jobs could well be changed by the next stage of the campaign that will focus more on adults after the successful results with children.

Secretary of state for health, Andy Burnham said: "We have surpassed all our targets for the first year and we are beginning to see the positive impact on families as they start to adopt healthier lifestyles."

The Change4Life scheme was launched in an attempt to prevent obesity costing the NHS an estimated £50 billion by 2050.
