Green jobs boost if homeowners believe in wind power?

The number of opportunities in green jobs could increase if homeowners embrace the possibilities of wind power and install turbines in their gardens.

Chris Huhne, secretary of state at the Department of Energy and Climate, thinks Wind Week is a good way to introduce the idea of such technology to residents and to help people "warm to it".

He added: "There are a lot of myths ... It's not noisy at all and no, it's not going to mash up all the birds."

What's more, Mr Huhne has actually installed a turbine at his own house and believes it is a friendlier way to produce power for use at home.

He remarked that he hopes such resources - and information about it - will become more commonplace and it will become easier to roll out across the country.

RenewableUK has facilitated SIAC Wind Power to build a fully-functioning windmill in Leicester Square - it is 43 feet tall and was in operation between 10:00 and 16:00 BST on June 14th.
