Green energy jobs boost, thanks to new wind farm?

People looking for employment in green energy jobs might be pleased to hear that a new wind farm has been opened.

The Clachan Flats site marks ScottishPower Renewables' (SPR) 23rd endeavour into this type of onshore facility and it plans to invest more in similar projects as part of a new trust over the next 25 years.

John Swinney, MSP and cabinet secretary for finance and sustainable growth, said: "[Wind farms] generate a community benefit fund for projects to improve life in the local community and promote sustainability."

Such enterprises can also help the country achieve climate change targets as a result of providing homes with low-carbon electricity supplies, Mr Swinney continued.

Meanwhile, householders in Liverpool might also see a reduction in their fuel bills as ScottishPower recently announced it would be trying out new SmartGrid technology in the region.

It will be the first infrastructure of its kind in Britain and has been created to provide more homes with electricity in a more energy-efficient manner.
