Environmental careers: Cycling plans a good idea

Anyone with an interest in environmental careers may be intrigued by an expert's comments, after the government announced plans to equip businesses with the tools to promote cycling.

Jo deBank, a spokesperson for London TravelWatch, suggested that many commuters could benefit from an increase in positive methods to get to work.

She commented: "I do certainly think it is a step in the right direction, and generally it is a good thing."

Ms deBank went on to say that such transportation policy should be "about everybody learning to share the road."

Additionally, more training resources could be a helpful way of educating Londoners about how to get around the city on their bike - including issues of parking.

The Department of Transport plans include a Cycle to Work Guarantee, which could see employers benefit from green tax breaks.

Moreover, businesses would be encouraged to provide staff with cycling equipment and secure bike storage.
