Energy saving ''a part of environmental careers''-Environmental Careers News
04 Nov 2009
People interested in building environmental careers could take on board new advice from the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs, which underlined the importance of energy saving.
Rob Holdway, Channel 4's eco-design expert, is supporting a campaign to help individuals and organisations cut down on bad habits.
He added: "Resource efficiency really isn't rocket science."
Mr Holdway went on to say: "Whether it's turning off lights, turning down thermostats, cutting down on rubbish, or addressing dripping taps - businesses are leaking money through bad use of their energy."
Switching off equipment can also have a positive effect, the Dumped guru recommended.
In this way, those who develop careers in green jobs may be able to put such expertise to good use.
Recently, Friends of the Earth claimed that the UK discards £650 million per year through dumping and incinerating waste.
It found that green jobs could be more plentiful if the country was to recycle this material instead.
