Economic recovery would boost media jobs

People on the lookout for media jobs are among those who could benefit from the country's economic fight back, after one expert suggested that green shoots may soon appear.

Kevin Green, chief executive at the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), noted that the overall conditions in the economy might be about to improve.

Speaking at the REC 2009 National Convention, he observed that job positions could become more plentiful.

Mr Green said: "There are some good signs for the last three months, reports on jobs has shown. We're just starting to see growth in vacancies and placements in both temporary and permanent positions."

He went on to hint that some employers are starting to consider ending their recruitment freeze.

According to recent research by the CBI and Harvey Nash, the number of firms that implement such cutbacks has fallen from 61 per cent in the spring to 37 per cent.
