Those people in charity jobs may soon have more work on their hands to offer advice to parents concerned about their children's weight.
Anyone currently seeking charity recruitment opportunities may be interested to note that Dr Andrew Buist, deputy chairman of the British Medical Association's Scottish General Practitioners Committee, has criticised one manufacturer for making childhood obesity seem acceptable by introducing plus-size clothing for youngsters.
Dr Buist's comments come after widespread reports on Sunday (July 25th) that Marks & Spencer are to launch a plus-size range - with waistlines up to 23 inches - for children as young as four years old.
This step simply serves to "go some way to normalising" the problem of childhood obesity, the expert asserted.
"It is essential that children are given the tools to manage their weight, eat healthily and take more exercise," he added.
The professional went on to state that both parents and children should be educated on the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
