Arts jobs news: Middlesbrough collaboration featured on Top Gear

People working in arts jobs in Middlesbrough teamed up with BBC producers ahead of Sunday's (December 20th) episode of Top Gear, which showcased an exhibition at mima, the city's modern art gallery.

Thanks to a collaboration between the team at Top Gear and Middlesbrough Council last month, the gallery was filled with more than 70 pieces of art, chosen by presenters Richard Hammond, Jeremy Clarkson and James May, the Evening Gazette reported.

Record crowds were drawn to the gallery during the weekend of November 21st and 22nd and Middlesbrough mayor Ray Mallon commented that "many millions" of people will now be able to enjoy the exhibit on television.

"The Top Gear team's unique display of automotive art was given the perfect setting in mima and I know the thousands who came to see it thoroughly enjoyed it," he said.

Other exhibitions currently on display at mima include work by Turner Prize winner Richard Wright and a collection of Ellsworth Kelly drawings made between 1954 and 1962.
