Additional wind farm investment leading to more environmental jobs?

More environmental jobs could be created if the government sets aside additional investment for wind farming, according to one expert.

A spokesperson from the Renewable Energy Centre urged politicians to support development in the industry, adding that "the UK could become a leading supplier for small wind power".

Electricity from this source could account for some 45 per cent of the UK's output in the future - and residents using the equipment may reap financial benefits as part of a new campaign.

The Feed In Tariff has been launched in the UK and turbines are "essential" if its rewards are to be realised and Britain's 2020 targets are met, she concluded.

Renewable UK supports the push to encourage further investment in green sectors.

A recent report from the organisation showed that 4,447 small wind system units were distributed last year and the market in the country is now worth £17.12 million.
