£1.5m funding boost for arts jobs before 2012 Olympics

People working in a number of arts jobs could benefit from a cash injection of £1.5 million in the run up to the 2012 Olympic Games.

Original artwork from deaf and disabled artists will be encouraged through the initiative from United Commissions and advice sessions have been set up for those interested.

Interested parties should apply through the Arts Council England's Grants for the Arts Programme and glean more information at workshops on various dates between July 2nd and 22nd at a number of venues throughout the UK.

"Unlimited is a great opportunity for deaf and disabled artists to work with mainstream organisations and producers and to get work commissioned that will have [an] amazing profile in the run up to London 2012," said Chas De Swiet, diversity in arts practice relationship manager at the company.

Meanwhile, three deaf and disabled artists from the south-west of England have been awarded £55,000 to promote their work through the Go Public art commissions.
