What Barnardo’s Does

Whatever the issue from drug misuse to disability; youth crime to mental health; sexual abuse to domestic violence; poverty to homelessness; Barnardo’s believes we can bring out the best in every child. They run 415 projects across the UK.

There is a Barnardo’s project, office, shop or fundraiser in every region of the UK.

Barnardo’s work with families in many ways including: fostering and adoption, disability and coping with domestic violence.

Barnardo’s develops evidence-based policy to influence Parliament and Government. We use research evidence and the knowledge gained from our direct work with children, young people and their families to campaign for change on their behalf.

Barnardo’s Policy and Research Unit produces campaign reports, summaries and briefing papers for decision makers (politicians) and opinion formers (the media and the public). We also respond to Government consultations, brief and meet with Parliamentarians, organise lobbying activities and work closely with civil servants through all stages of the policy making process.

Our Relationship with Barnardo’s
