Client of the month - Make-A-Wish UK

Client of the month for July is Make-A-Wish® UK which grants magical wishes to enrich the lives of children and young people fighting life-threatening conditions.

Picture: Florrie, aged 4, fighting cancer. "I wish to be a princess in a castle.”

The children that turn to Make-A-Wish® UK are facing challenges that most of us would find difficult to imagine. All seriously ill children and young people need to experience the magic of having their wish granted to help them cope with, and fight, their condition.

A wish allows a poorly child to delve into their imagination to find their ultimate wish and provide an escape from treatment or their daily challenges.  A wish can range from flying in the air like a superhero, fighting baddies as a ninja princess, meeting a life-long hero or even walking with dinosaurs.

Over 100 seriously ill children turn to us every month, so we rely on the generosity of our supporters, fundraisers, donors and volunteers to help turn their wishes into magical and life-changing realities.

Over 2000 volunteers are helping us in lots of varied roles - from raising funds in the community and cheering at our events, to visiting children and spending time with them to capture their one true wish. We also have a number of volunteers giving their time to support our teams at our head office.

We have two brand new volunteer opportunities to help with the ways in which we communicate our wish stories and support visitors to our website. We're looking for Case Study Assistants to talk to our wish families and find out the full story behind some of our magical wishes and how they impact on the lives of the wish children and their families. As well as wish stories, we also want to tell the stories of our supporters and volunteers - looking at why they chose to support us and what impact it's had on them. Are you a confident, caring person who likes to chat?  Could you turn a conversation into an amazing story to share?   If so, this could be the role for you. We'd ask you to tell the story of our wish visits so we can share them with our supporters.  To find our more about this role have a look at our website.

Are you an experienced Web Developer with some spare time?  Would you like to gain some development experience whilst supporting an amazing charity? We're looking for volunteers to help us develop new web features and functionality, enhancing the experience of our online visitors. Check out our website for more details about this role.

We're really flexible about the time you can commit, and both roles can be done at home or at our offices in Camberley, Surrey.
