Beyond Food at The Brigade

Last week some of our consultants visited The Brigade restaurant in London Bridge where charity Beyond Food run an apprentice programme. We were so enthusiastic about the delicious food that we forgot to take a photo of it but here's us with full tummies chatting to CEO Greg Harris and Chef Trainer Leon Seraphin.

Beyond Food Foundation's mission is to inspire people who are at risk of or have experienced homelessness to gain meaningful employment. As well as the Chef Apprentice programme they also work with hostels to run outreach programmes that use food to inspire and motivate people and have a support worker who helps the apprentices sort out benefits, housing issues and work placements. Apprentices have gone on to work at high profile establishments including The Wolseley and countless others have discovered a passion for cooking and built self confidence through the programmes.

It was really great to see this successful social enterprise in action and meet Leon, once an apprentice himself and quite possibly the world's most inspiring man. We're going back soon to have a team lunch and will be joining in their cookbook amnesty when it launches.
