Future Fundraisers Awards

Future Fundraisers is a chance for charities to recognise their rising stars and to support them with one of three training bursaries from Charity People. Find out more.

Over the past 27 years at Charity People we've helped many of the finest fundraisers to progress in their careers.

This Autumn we're on the look out for the next generation of talented fundraisers.

Future Fundraisers is a chance for charities to recognise their rising stars and to support them with one of three training bursaries from Charity People.

How it works

Between now and the end of October, we're asking charities to nominate using our simple form. Charities must be UK-based, but can be of any size and don't need to be current clients of Charity People. Nominations can come from anyone: managers; trustees; colleagues and team members.

There are three categories, based on the length of their fundraising career to date.

  • Bright spark: 0-1 year's experience
  • Rising star: 1-3 years' experience
  • Leading light: 3-5 years' experience

When someone is nominated, we'll drop them a line asking them to complete a simple submission, which needs to be completed in time for judging by our panel in November. The shortlist will be invited to attend our fundraising panel event on Tuesday 21st November, where the winners will be announced.

The Prizes

Bright Spark winner

At this stage of your career, we think you'll be looking to make sure that you've got all the basics in place. We're offering a course with FSI Accredited Learning.

FSI Accredited Learning offers learners a Level 3 (QCF) Introduction to Fundraising Practice, accredited by SQA. The FSI are experts in fundraising and this is a practical, work-based qualification designed to give you key skills and expertise to underpin your fundraising role.

Ideal for those new to fundraising or seeking a career in the charity sector, the Introduction to Fundraising Practice provides an introduction to key fundraising concepts and skills.  It comprises two taught workshop modules on developing a fundraising strategy and case for support.

In addition to the qualification, the winners will receive two extra hours of one to one support from a senior member of the FSI consultancy team to support any area of their fundraising.

Rising Star winner

At this stage of your career, you should be looking to build your network, taking the opportunity to learn from your peers, and continuing your professional development.

The prize is 12 months fully paid access to the Bright Spot Members Club for online learning and support with your fundraising.

Here are some of the ways access to the Members Club helps fundraisers:

  • Personal Fundraising Power - 17 video training modules on Influence and Building Momentum
  • An exclusive new bundle each month, with a range of fundraising experts
  • Progress building / trouble-shooting through webinars with award-winning trainer Rob each month
  • Part of a like-minded group taking action - 187 members already joined in the first two months

Leading light winner

At this stage of your career, you will be looking to build your skills and credibility as a leader and focusing on positioning yourself for your first senior leadership role.
We're offering leadership coaching with McCanna Coaching

A series of three 90-minute leadership coaching sessions with Jennifer McCanna ACC, ICF accredited leadership coach. The focus of the sessions will be directed by the winner, and could including building the skills and behaviours needed to progress into a senior leadership role within the sector, addressing any current work challenges as well as long-term career development.

We suggest you take the 3 sessions within a 3-6 month time frame and Jennifer will be on hand in between sessions to offer support and guidance via email as appropriate.

Terms and Conditions

Nominations deadline is 31st October.

We would love it if everyone that is nominated could win these awards but sadly that just isn’t possible. As such the Judge’s decision is final and unfortunately we will unable to provide feedback to unsuccessful nominees.
