Beatbullying is looking to recruit volunteer counsellors
Beatbullying is an award-winning bullying prevention children’s charity that provides support to children and young people affected by bullying and discrimination. CyberMentors, a project run by Beatbullying, is the first nationwide peer-mentoring social networking site. It is run by young people for young people and has helped over 270,000 young people since it’s launch in March 09.
As the role of technology increases, and its use in therapy becomes more popular, the BACP recognises the use of online support for a wide range of psychological issues and the potential for significant benefits to clients.
We now need your help to sustain this phenomenal service. We are recruiting qualified counsellors to apply their therapeutic skills online, supporting vulnerable young people and providing emotional support for a wide range of psychological issues such as depression, anger, bullying, lack of self-esteem, self-harm and sexual identity.
If you can spare just 3-4 hours per week to help those vulnerable young people that require additional support from our counselling team then please get in touch. We operate a regular shift pattern of weekdays 0800-1000, 1800-2000, 2000-2300, and weekends are 0900-1200, 1600-1900 and 1900-2200. You will be asked to cover one of these slots on a regular basis, details of which will be asked on the application form.
You’ll receive first class training and receive regular support in your role as a Volunteer Counsellor. Needles to say, your time each week will help the thousands of vulnerable young people who log onto www.cybermentors.org.uk every day.
Please email: volunteercounsellor@beatbullying.org for application forms.
The closing date for applications is January 4th 2010.
